United Agent Services can also provide your business with registered agent services. Every District of Columbia LLC must have a registered agent — the person or office designated to receive official state correspondence and notice if the company is “served” with a lawsuit.
- An individual resident in the District or
- A corporation, authorized by its articles of organization to act as agent and authorized to transact business in the District, having a business office identical with the registered office
An individual or corporation shall only be named as a registered agent by consent. This consent shall be evidenced by a written document executed by the registered agent, which execution may be by facsimile signature, which shall be filed with the Mayor.
The registered office does not need to be the LLC’s place of business.
